Tarttoria Polare
YEAR: 2025
SCOPE: Interior Architecture
LOCATION: Vervet, Tromsø, Norway
Trattoria Polare is a contemporary restaurant concept in Tromsø, where Italian warmth meets a distinctly Arctic sensibility. Designed as a social and atmospheric dining space, the interior balances playful character with architectural clarity, creating an environment that feels both vibrant and grounded.
The design combines warm wood tones, tactile materials, and layered lighting with graphic elements and bold accents, resulting in an expressive yet cohesive interior identity. Carefully zoned seating areas support different dining experiences — from intimate tables to more social settings — while maintaining a strong overall flow. The result is a restaurant interior defined by atmosphere, comfort, and a confident sense of place.
“I had the pleasure of working with Julie Johnsen when we created Trattoria Polare at the outer edge of Vervet in Tromsø. The result was a warm and welcoming concept, enjoyed by so many, and I am confident that it will stand the test of time for many years to come. Julie has a fantastic personality and brings a strong sense of quality and creativity to her work. I have truly loved working with her as part of a team.”
